ROLL - THE - CAN ICE CREAM | |
For the "freezer" you will need 2 empty cans with plastic lids - a 1 pound and a 3 pound; 1 1/2 cups rock salt; 8 pounds crushed ice. 1 c. heavy cream 1 c. milk 1 egg, beaten 1/2 c. sugar 1 tsp. vanilla 1/3 c. diced fruit Cover the can and set in center of larger can. Layer half the ice alternately with half the salt. Cover the larger can. Now the fun begins. Let the children roll the can back and forth to each other for 10 minutes. Open the outer can; empty ice and water. Before opening the small can, wipe to remove water and salt. Open and stir. Scrape from sides to center; stir and cover. Replace in large can. Repack with ice and salt. Cover large can and let children roll again for 5 minutes. Makes 2 1/2 cups. |
