WELCH'S HOLIDAY STARS 
Holiday Star cookies are easy to make. And they'll make you the star of any festive get-together.

1 1/3 c. vegetable shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
Rind of 1 lemon, grated
3 tbsp. milk
4 c. all-purpose flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 (20 oz.) jar Welch's grape jam
Confectioners sugar

Cream shortening and sugar. Beat in eggs, lemon rind and milk. Stir in flour, baking powder and salt. Mix well and chill one hour. Roll out on floured surface to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut into 144 large stars. Cut one inch hole in center of 72 of the stars. Bake on a cookie sheet in preheated oven (375 degrees) for 7 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool. Spread Welch's Grape Jam on solid cookies, top each cookie with hold in center. Fill the hole with more Welch's Grape Jam. Sprinkle with confectioners sugar.

Makes 72 cookies.
