ITALIAN COOKIE RING 
3/4 c. Crisco
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
3/4 c. milk
1/4 tsp. salt
3 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
2 tbsp. anise extract

Cream Crisco and sugar. Add eggs and beat. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk and anise. Beat a few minutes. Grease and flour a round pizza pan and a custard cup, place cup in center of pan. Spread dough in pan around cup. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes. When cooled, drizzle glaze on top and colored sprinkles on top.

GLAZE:

1 c. confectionery sugar
1/2 tsp. anise extract
5 tsp. water

Mix sugar with water and anise until good consistency. Sprinkle over cake when cooled.
