OSSIE MAE'S FRUIT SQUARES 
8-10 apples (peeled and sliced thin)
2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 lb. butter
1 tbsp. salt
1 egg (divided)
2/3 c. milk
1 c. crushed corn flakes, any flaked cereal
1 c. sugar
1 tbsp. cinnamon

FROSTING:

1 c. powdered sugar
3/4 tbsp. milk

1. Combine fruit, sugar, cinnamon and set aside.

2. Combine flour, salt; cut in butter.

3. Beat egg yolks with a fork. Add milk. Gradually add flour mixture.

4. Divide dough into two parts. On well floured board, roll out one part of dough to fit standard size cookie sheet, including sides. Ungreased cookie sheet.

5. Sprinkle crushed flakes on dough first, then apple mixture.

6. Roll out second part of dough to make a top crust. Cut slits throughout. Brush with egg whites.

8. Frosting: Combine powdered sugar and milk. Drizzle on top immediately after baking.

9. Cut into squares, remove from pan and cool.

Note: This recipe calls for 1/2 pound of butter.
