SPIRAL FRUIT BUNS 
2 1/2 c. all purpose flour
1 tbsp. baking powder
8 oz. Neufchatel cheese, room temperature
1/4 c. vegetable oil
1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. plus 1 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/3 c. cream or milk

FILLING:

1/3 c. sugar
1/3 c. golden raisins
1/3 c. chopped almonds or walnuts
1/3 c. candied citron

DOUGH: Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Grease 2 baking sheets; set aside. Sift together flour and baking powder into large bowl. Stir in cheese, oil, 1/2 cup milk, 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar and vanilla until firm and smooth. Transfer dough to a well floured surface. Roll dough into a 12 x 10 inch rectangle. Brush lightly with 1/3 cup cream of milk.

FILLING: In a small bowl, combine 1/3 cup sugar, raisins, nuts, and citron. Sprinkle mixture over dough. Using your fingers, press lightly so sugar mixture sticks to dough. Starting on a long side, firmly roll dough jelly roll style. Using a very sharp knife, cut roll into 1/2 inch thick slices; place on greased baking sheets. Bake 20 minutes or until golden brown. Makes about 24 buns.
