OLD FASHIONED APPLE BUTTER | |
6 lbs. unpeeled apples 2 c. cider Wash and cut up apples and put in large kettle. Add cider, cover and cook over low heat until very tender, stirring now and then. Cool slightly and press through a sieve or use a food mill. Measure and add half as much sugar. Stir in 2 tablespoons cinnamon and 2 teaspoons ground cloves and 1 teaspoon allspice. Simmer over low heat until dark and thick, about 2 hours. Stir frequently. Pour into jars and seal. |
