1 c. shortening (for flavor, use half butter) 3/4 c. sugar 1 egg 2 1/4 c. flour 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. vanilla (or almond) 1/8 tsp. salt Cream shortening, adding sugar gradually. Add the egg (unbeaten). Add dry ingredients which have been sifted together. Add flavoring. Mix well. Press dough through a cookie press onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes or until light brown around edges. Cool. Store in airtight container. Yield: about 8 dozen. |
