CHOCOLATE CHIP BLACK WALNUT 
1/2 c. blacked walnuts, chopped fine
1/2 c. ground chocolate chips
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 1/4 c. sifted cake flour
1 tsp. salt
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
3 egg whites

Cream shortening and 1 cup sugar. Sift flour, salt, and baking powder; blend into creamed mixture, alternately with milk. Stir in vanilla, walnuts, and chocolate; beat egg whites until stiff and gradually beat in remaining 1/2 cup sugar. Fold carefully into batter. Bake in 2 greased 9 inch cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes.
