GUM DROP CAKE | |
2 lbs. gum drops, cut sm. (no black ones) 1 c. butter 1 1/2 c. applesauce 1 lg. white raisins 1 tsp. baking soda (dissolved in 1 tbsp. hot water) 1 c. sugar 2 eggs 4 c. flour 1 1/2 c. nuts 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. cloves 1 tsp. salt Cream butter and sugar; add 2 cups flour, spices, eggs, soda and applesauce. Sift 2 cups flour over raisins, gum drops, and nuts; mix well. Add to creamed mixture. Pour into large tube pan which has been greased and floured. Bake 1 hour at 300 degrees. Let cool and put in airtight container. Let ripen for 2 weeks. |
