NEW ORLEANS DATE BARS 
6 tbsp. butter
3/4 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 c. milk
8 oz. chopped dates
3/4 c. chopped nuts

Beat first 2 ingredients until creamy. Add eggs and beat until blended. Combine next 4 ingredients. Stir alternately with milk into sugar mixture. Blend in chopped dates and nuts. Spread in a greased 9 x 9 x 2 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees about 35 minutes or until done. Dust with powdered sugar.
