3/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
Dash of salt

Cream sugar and shortening, add eggs and vanilla. Sift dry ingredients and add to sugar-shortening mixture. Chill dough and then roll out on lightly floured surface. Cut out with cookie cutters. Bake at 375 degrees for about 8 to 10 minutes or until just starting to brown at edges.
