BUTTER CREAM FROSTING (Cake
Decorating)
 
1 c. Crisco (plain or butter flavor)
1 1/2 c. confectioners' sugar
1/4 c. evaporated milk

Cream shortening, add sugar, add milk slowly, add salt 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon. Beat at high speed for 5 minutes. It will be necessary to add sugar to attain desirable consistency. Store in airtight container.

ROYAL ICING:

(For Decorations only) 1 lb. powdered sugar 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar

Combine ingredients and beat at high speed 7 to 10 minutes. Very quick drying. Keep bowl covered with damp cloth as you are forming decorations. Decorations will be very hard when set.
