KRISTIN'S PRIZE-WINNING BUTTER
CAKE
 
1). Grease and flour 2, 9 inch layer pans 2). Cream together until fluffy (beat 5 minutes, high speed on mixer) :

2/3 c. soft butter
1 3/4 c. sugar
2 eggs (1/3 to 1/2 cup)
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

3). Sift together:

3 c. sifted cake flour or 2 3/4 c. sifted all-purpose flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt

4.) Mix in alternately with (use low speed on mixer)... 1 1/4 c. milk.

Pour into prepared pans. Bake at 350 degrees. Layer pans for 35 - 40 minutes. 13 x 9 pans for 45 to 50 minutes. Cool. Frost with Grandmother's Ice Cream Frosting.
