SMOKY MICRO NUTS | |
1 c. hazelnuts 1 1/2 c. almonds 1 1/2 c. English walnuts 1 1/2 c. pecans 5 tbsp. salt 2 oz. liquid smoke (Wrights, Reese, etc.) 2 c. warm water Dissolve salt in water and liquid smoke mixture. Place nuts in shallow glass baking dish and pour water, smoke, salt mixture over. Wet thoroughly and soak 1 hour, stir occasionally. Drain liquids from foul smelling, salty, nasty looking nuts and air dry for 1 hour. Microwave 13 minutes on high, stirring after 8 minutes and every 2 minutes thereafter. Remove and let cool completely before placing in closed container. Adjust cooking time proportionally if amounts are reduced or increased. |
