ANNA'S CABBAGE SOUP 
1 to 2 pieces Flanken (1 to 1 1/2 lbs.)
1 lg. onion
2 carrots, sliced
2 stalks celery, sliced
1 (28 oz.) can stewed tomatoes
1 med. green cabbage, shred coarsely
Juice of 1 to 2 lemons
1 (14 oz.) can sauerkraut
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 (28 oz.) can whole tomatoes
1 envelope Nutra-sweet or 1 tbsp. sugar
4 c. water

In a large pot, add water, onion (cut almost 1/2 through), Flanken and cook 3/4 hour. Remove onion. Add all ingredients except cabbage. Simmer for 1/2 hour. Add coarsely shredded cabbage 15 to 20 minutes before serving. Additional cabbage may be added to the pot. (This soup is good for two days!) Serves hearty appetites.
