1 c. sugar 3/4 c. shortening (part butter) 2 eggs 1 tsp. vanilla 2 1/2 c. flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt About 5 rolls ring shaped hard candy Mix sugar, shortening, eggs and vanilla. Stir in flour, baking powder and salt. Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour. Roll dough 1/8 inch thick on lightly floured pastry cloth. Cut into desired shapes with cutters. Place on aluminum foil covered cookie sheet. Cut out designs from cookies using small cutters. Place whole or crushed candy in cutouts. Bake at 375 degrees for 7-9 minutes or until cookies are light brown and candy is melted. |
