CHERRY PIE 
1 (20 oz.) pkg. frozen sour cherries
1 1/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. cornstarch
1/2 tsp. almond extract
3/4 tsp. vanilla
2 tbsp. butter
2 drops red food coloring (optional)

CRUST:

3 c. flour
1 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 c. plus 2 tbsp. Crisco shortening
1/4 c. cold water
1 tbsp. white vinegar
1 lg. egg

Roll out for a top and bottom crust.

Cook cherries, cornstarch and sugar. Stir as it cooks for 1 minute. After it reaches a boil, remove from heat and add flavorings. Pour into pie shell, then add top crust and crimp.

Brush with a glaze of 1 tablespoon milk and 1/2 teaspoon sugar. Bake in a preheated oven at 375 degrees for 35-40 minutes. Makes one 9-inch pie.
