BANANA NUT CAKE 
1/2 c. Crisco
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 c. & 4 tbsp. cake flour
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1 1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. bananas
1 c. nuts

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. With a mixer cream Crisco and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, beating after each. Sift cake flour one time, then measure. Sift flour, salt, soda and baking powder together. Add to creamed mixture a little at a time. Add buttermilk as you add the flour mixture. Beat well after each addition. Add vanilla, bananas and nuts. Beat a little more. Bake at 350 degrees in two 9 inch cake pans that have been greased and floured. Bake about 25-30 minutes. To measure flour spoon into a cup and level with a knife. Don't pack.

FROSTING:

8 oz. Cool Whip
4 tbsp. powdered sugar
3 bananas, mashed

Fold the sugar and bananas in the Cool Whip with a spoon. Frost cake and chill.
