PUMPKIN NUT BREAD 
5 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
4 cups sugar
1 cup (2 sticks) butter
6 large eggs
3 cups pumpkin
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 cup water
1 cup chopped nuts
1 cup chopped dates or raisins

Cream sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Add eggs, beat well. Stir in pumpkin and water and blend. Sift dry ingredients, mixing just until dry ingredients are moistened. Add nuts and desired fruit. Pour into 3 well greased loaf pans and set aside for 15 minutes.

Bake in a preheated 350°F oven for 1 hour or until cake tester comes out clean. Cool on racks.

Makes 3 loaves.
