CRISP GINGER COOKIES 
1 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
2 tbsp. dark corn syrup
1 tbsp. water
3 1/4 sifted flour
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
1/4 tsp. cloves

Cream butter, sugar, add egg. Beat until fluffy. Add corn syrup and water. Add dry ingredients. Chill. Roll out 1/8 inch thickness. Add almond on top if desired. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.
