CHOCOLATE - CHIP BUTTERSCOTCH

3/4 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter, firmly packed
1 c. dark brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate bits
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Frost with Butterscotch Frosting (see next recipe), 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate pieces; preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 8 x 8 inch pan.

Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together; set aside. Melt butter. Add sugar; stir over low heat until sugar is melted. Turn into medium bowl; add eggs, one at a time. Beat well after each. Add vanilla. Stir in flour mixture, 1 package chocolate bits, and nuts. Mix well. Turn into prepared pan. Bake 30 minutes. Let cool completely on wire rack. Frost with Butterscotch Frosting. Garnish with chocolate bits. Cut into bars. 20 servings.
