CHOCOLATE OATMEAL CHIPPERS 
1 c. soft butter
1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 c. white sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/4 c. flour
1/2 c. cocoa
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt (optional)
2 c. chocolate morsels
2 c. oatmeal
1 c. chopped walnuts

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Beat butter, sugars, eggs, and vanilla until creamy. Gradually add combined flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt; mix well. Stir in remaining ingredients. Drop by rounded measuring tablespoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 9 to 10 minutes or until set. Cool 2 minutes on cookie sheet; remove to wire rack. Cool completely. Store tightly covered. Makes 4 dozen.
