GRAMMIE MARGIE'S LUCY PICKLES | |
12 lg. cucumbers, peeled and sliced (slightly yellow, ripe cukes may be used) 2 qt. onions, sliced 1/2 c. salt 1 qt. vinegar 2 lb. (4 c.) white sugar 7 tbsp. flour 1 tbsp. dry mustard 1 tbsp. turmeric (optional) Cover cucumbers (sliced) with water and 1/2 cup salt and let set overnight. Drain. Make a paste of 1 quart vinegar, white sugar, flour and dry mustard (turmeric if desired). Add one can pimientos, cut into pieces. Add cucumbers and onions and cook 15 minutes on low heat, do not boil this mixture. Pour into sterilized, hot jars and seal. In Loving Memory of "Grammie Margie" |
