COWBOY BITTER SAUCE | |
This recipe is best topped on vanilla frozen yogurt or ice milk; or added to plain or vanilla yogurt. 1 1/2 cups instant coffee crystals, crushed to a powder 1/3 cup liquid smoke (about 5 tbsp.) 1 (12 oz.) jar Grandma's robust molasses (dark green label) Crush coffee crystals in a folded piece of parchment paper to as fine a powder as possible. This ensures easy dissolving when the liquid smoke is added. Gradually add the liquid smoke to the powdered coffee until a thick syrup consistency is achieved. Into another medium glass bowl, pour out the entire jar of molasses. Add the coffee-liquid smoke mixture and blend well. Note: For a smokier flavor, add two extra tablespoons of liquid smoke (if desired). Store the finished mixture into a clean, sterilized clear or if desired, a dark brown glass jar, and securely screw the lid on, but not too tight. GLASS BOTTLE STORAGE: If storing in a glass bottle, make sure it has a wide mouth, since this sauce is thick. The bottle too can be dark brown, if desired. Submitted by: Saturn Bowlingreen |
