SOUR CREAM CANDIED NUTS 
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. dairy sour cream
1/8 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 1/2 c. nut halves (filberts, walnuts or pecans or combination)

In heavy saucepan, mix sugar, sour cream and salt. Bring to boil and cook at 240 degrees, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and add vanilla. Beat until mixture beings to thicken and loses its gloss. Add nuts and stir quickly to coat all sides. Turn out on greased cookie sheet or kitchen parchment-covered cookie sheet and separate nuts with 2 forks. Makes about 1 1/8 pounds.
