SWEET MILK DOUGHNUTS 
3 1/2 c. flour
1 c. sugar
3 tbsp. shortening
3 eggs
1 c. milk
3 tbsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Cream shortening, add 1/2 the sugar and cream well. Beat eggs well and add remaining sugar to them and beat well. Add to creamed mixture. Add baking powder, salt, nutmeg and cinnamon sifted with 1 cup flour. Add vanilla. Add remaining flour alternately with milk. Chill dough 1 hour before using. This gives a more tender doughnut.

Roll dough to 1/4 inch thickness on a floured board. Cut and fry to a golden brown in hot deep fat. Fat should be from 370 degrees to 375 degrees. This makes 3 dozen doughnuts.
