SHOE FLY PIE
2 c. flour 1 c. brown sugar 1/3 c. shortening Mix above as for pie crust. Combine and stir well: 1 tsp. baking soda 1 c. boiling water Mix half the crumbs into the liquid. Pour into an unbaked pie shell. Add remaining crumbs to top (spread evenly). Bake in a moderate oven until set.

Did you call this Shoe Fly instead of Shoo Fly because this isn't an authentic recipe? Real Shoo Fly pie has molasses.
