MOM'S HOMEMADE BISCUITS 
3 c. all purpose flour
1/4 c. sugar
4 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1 egg, beaten
1 1/8 c. milk

Combine dry ingredients in a mixing bowl. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add egg and milk all at once; mix until dough forms a soft ball. Turn dough out on a lightly floured surface and knead 10 to 12 times. Roll out to 3/4" thickness; cut with 2 1/2" biscuit cutter. Place on greased baking sheet. Bake biscuits at 475 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes.
