1 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 tsp. baking soda dissolved in 3/4 c. water or milk
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
2 c. flour

Mix well until dough clears bowl. Put out on floured board and knead 5 minutes. Cut in 4 equal parts and use one at a time. Cut with 4 inch cookie cutter or can and bake at 350 degrees.
