CHOW CHOW 
50 cents worth of cabbage
1/2 lb. green tomatoes
1 gal. onions
1 qt. hot peppers
60 cents worth of sugar
1 gal. & 1 qt. vinegar
1 box mixed spices (or some ground spices)
1 lg. handful salt to each panful of mixture

Mix together and cook until cabbage looks done. Put into clean jars and seal. (This recipe is about 100 years old.)
