SHORTBREAD 
2/3 c. butter
1/2 c. 10X sugar
1 1/2 c. plain flour plus 2 tbsp.
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream butter. Gradually add sugar. Beat until fluffy. Sift in flour and salt. Mix well. Mixture will be crumbly. Press into 9-inch pie pan. Form fluted edge. Prick surface with fork. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes. Shortbread should be firm in middle. Should not be brown. Cut in wedges. Let cool in pan.
