FRUITCAKE COOKIES 
1 c. butter, softened
3/4 c. brown sugar, packed
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 rounded c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
4 oz. red candied cherries, halved
4 oz. candied pineapple, diced
1 1/2 c. dates, cut fine
1/2 c. walnuts, chopped
1/2 c. pecans, chopped
1/2 c. hazel nuts, chopped

Cream butter, brown sugar, egg, and vanilla in large bowl. Sift flour, salt, and soda together and add to creamed mixture, stirring to blend. Add fruits and nuts, stir to mix. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 325 degrees for 15 minutes. Store tightly covered. Makes 3 1/2 dozen.
