| GRANDMA'S CHOCOLATE CAKE | |

2 c. sugar 2 c. flour 1 stick butter 1/2 c. Crisco 4 tbsp. cocoa 1 c. water 1/2 c. buttermilk 2 eggs, slightly beaten 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. vanilla Mix flour and sugar in large bowl; set aside. In a saucepan, bring next 4 ingredients to a boil. Pour over flour and sugar; mix well. Add 4 remaining ingredients and mix. Bake in a 9"x13" cake pan for 35 minutes at 350 degrees. ICING: 1 stick butter 6 tbsp. milk 4 tbsp. cocoa 1 box powdered sugar 1 tsp. vanilla 1/2 c. chopped nuts Melt butter, milk and cocoa. Add remaining ingredients. Pour over cake while hot! | |

Thank you for sharing this! This is like my Grandmother's (she was born in the very early 1900s) chocolate cake recipe. I come here to find it because the chocolate cake fairy takes my printed out one everytime I make it. This is the easiest cake to make and so delicious!
