SIMMERED SPICY MEATBALLS
MEATBALLS:

1 lb. ground beef
1/2 c. soft bread crumbs
3 tbsp. parsley, chopped
1 egg
1 sm. onion, grated
2 tsp. grated lemon rind
Salt & freshly ground pepper
3 tbsp. cooking oil

SAUCE:

1 med. onion, finely chopped
1/2 tsp. curry powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ground cumin
1 tsp. ground coriander
2 c. beef bouillon
1/4 c. raisins, chopped
Salt to taste

Mix together all ingredients for meatballs except oil. Heat the oil in a heavy frying pan and brown meatballs over moderate heat. Remove from pan and set aside. While you make the sauce.

Add onion the same pan (you may need a little extra oil) and stir until starting to soften. Add curry, cinnamon, cumin and coriander and stir 1 minute. Add bouillon, raisins and salt to taste; bring to a boil. Return meatballs to the pan, cover and simmer 30 minutes.

Taste sauce and adjust seasoning, adding a little sugar if desired. Serve meatballs and sauce in a heated dish, with rice, chutney and diced cucumbers. Serves 4.
