2 c. sugar
1 stick butter
1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. cocoa
2 c. oatmeal
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. nuts or coconut

Put sugar, butter and milk into buttered saucepan and boil for 3 minutes. Remove from heat. Add cocoa, oatmeal and vanilla. Beat quickly while hot; add coconut or nuts or 1/2 of each.

Drop by teaspoons on greased cookie sheet. Wait 5 minutes before serving.

For a change, 1/2 cup peanut butter can be added before cocoa and oatmeal.

When you see the preacher coming up the road, dash inside and make these so he has a cookie with his coffee.

Makes 36 cookies.
