SWEET AND SOUR RED CABBAGE 
4 tbsp. brown sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. water
1/4 c. vinegar
3 tbsp. butter
6 cloves
8 caraway seeds
1 bay leaf
4 1/2 c. shredded red cabbage
1 tart apples, sliced very thin

Mix first 5 ingredients in a pan; bring to a boil. Add spices, tied in cheese cloth. Remove spice bag. Can be served with hot muffins. Serves 6 to 8.
