VINEGAR PASTRY 
3 c. sifted flour
1 tbsp. sugar
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/4 c. shortening, cut in
1 beaten egg
5 tbsp. water
1 tbsp. vinegar

Sift first 4 ingredients; cut in shortening until mixture resembles small peas. Combine beaten egg, 5 tablespoons water, and 1 tablespoon of vinegar. Sprinkle mixture over flour mix and mix lightly with fork. Add the rest of egg mixture. Continue mixing until pastry just holds together. Gather dough together with hand and press into ball. Wrap in plastic and chill 15 minutes in refrigerator.
