FRIED GREEN TOMATOES 
3 or 4 very firm, lg. green tomatoes
2 c. flour, cornmeal, etc.
1 tbsp. salt
1 tbsp. pepper
1 tbsp. seasoning salt
2 eggs
2 c. milk

Cut tomatoes into 3/8" to 1/2" slices. Mix flour and seasonings. Mix eggs and milk in another bowl. Dip each slice alternately in wet and dry mixtures twice to coat well.

Heat oil to 350 degrees and add battered tomatoes a few at a time. Cook for 5 minutes until golden brown.

To vary the flavor, you may rub half a clove of garlic on frying pan; use bacon drippings instead of oil; or add a tad brown sugar to dry mixture.
