FRIED GREEN TOMATOES 
3-4 lg. firm green tomatoes
1 egg
1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. corn meal
1/4 c. flour
Shortening

Wash and slice tomatoes, about 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick. Beat egg and milk in bowl. In another bowl combine flour and corn meal. Dip each slice individually in the milk and egg mixture and then in the flour and meal mixture. Have shortening about 1/2 inch deep in heavy skillet. When shortening is hot, place tomatoes in and fry (not too fast) until brown on both sides. Salt to taste.
