2 c. unsifted flour
1/2 c. unsweetened cocoa
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/4 c. sugar
3/4 c. shortening (Crisco)
1/4 c. butter
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1 (9 oz.) pkg. condensed minced meat, crumbled
1 c. chopped nuts

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Stir together flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt; set aside. In large mixing bowl beat sugar, shortening and butter until fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Add flour mixture, mix well. Stir in mince meat and, if desired, nuts. Roll into 1 1/4 inch balls, place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten slightly. Bake 8-10 minutes. Makes about 4 dozen.
