CRANBERRY STEWED APPLES (Pass) 
6 med. tart apples, must hold their shape when cooked; peeled, cored & quartered
2 c. fresh whole cranberries
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. water
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. ground allspice
1/4 tsp. ground cloves

Place the apples in saucepan with cranberries, sugar, water, salt, cinnamon, ginger, allspice and cloves. Cover and bring to boiling point. Cook 15 minutes or until apples are tender and skins of cranberries have burst. Cool. Serve with poultry or veal or add an additional 1/4 cup sugar and serve as a dessert.
