FILLED COOKIES 
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. sweet milk
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
3 1/2 c. flour

Mix and roll out on well-floured board, very thin. Cut out to your size. Place on baking sheet and place 1 teaspoon filling on each cookie. Cover with another cookie dough. Pinch edges together.

Bake in quick oven (375 degrees) about 12 minutes.

FILLING:

Raspberry jam or date mixture
1/2 c. chopped dates
2/3 c. sugar or less
2/3 c. hot water
1 lg. tbsp. flour
