SPLIT PEA SOUP | |
1 c. diced ham 1 c. dried split peas 1 1/2 qts. cold water 1 tsp. instant chicken bouillon 2 ribs celery, cut in pieces 2 to 3 sprigs parsley 1 lg. carrots, pared and cut 1 lg. onion, cut 1 tbsp. freeze-dried chives 1 tbsp. onion salt 1 tsp. sugar 1/2 tsp. seasoning salt 1/8 tsp. pepper 1 c. half & half Croutons (your choice of flavors) Combine the first 8 ingredients; bring to boil. Cover and simmer for 1 hour. Pour soup and all seasonings into a blender or food processor to puree. Add half & half and reheat. Serves 6. Note: A ham bone can be used in place of diced ham. |
