OATMEAL CAKE 
1 1/4 c. boiling water
1 c. quick oats
1 stick butter
1 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1 1/3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon

Pour boiling water over quick oats. Add butter and cover with towel. Let stand 20 minutes. Add rest of ingredients. Stir all together and bake in 13 x 9 pan at 350°F for 35 minutes.

Topping:

6 tbsp. butter
1/4 c. canned milk
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. coconut
1 c. chopped nuts

Stir together and pour over the top of the cake soon after removing from oven. Put cake under broiler to brown. WATCH CLOSELY; IT BURNS EASILY!!
