1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. buttermilk
3 eggs, well beaten
1 1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. freshly grated nutmeg
4 c. sifted flour

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and mix. Add flour and nutmeg, alternately with buttermilk and soda which have been mixed together. Mix well. Chill. Roll out 1/4 inch thick on lightly floured board. Cut into shapes and sprinkle with sugar. Bake on greased cookie sheet at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes.
