CHERRY NUT SQUARES 
1/2 lb. butter
1 c. sugar
1 can cherry pie filling (Thank You Brand)
2 eggs
2 c. flour, sifted
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. nuts, chopped

Cream sugar and butter thoroughly. Add vanilla, stir in eggs one at a time, stir in flour; add nuts and mix well. Spread 3/4 batter in ungreased 9 x 13 inch pan. Cover with cherry pie filling. Drop remaining batter on cherries. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes; cool. Cut in finger pastry size, sprinkle with powdered sugar.
