FRIED GREEN TOMATOES 
Green Tomatoes
Flour or bread crumbs
Shortening (butter or bacon drippings)
Salt and pepper

Cut green tomatoes 1/2 inch thick (do not peel). Dip in flour or bread crumbs. Season with salt and pepper. Fry in hot shortening (bacon drippings add flavor). Turn once with pancake turner.
