APPLE TORTE 
1/2 c. butter
1/3 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. vanilla
1 c. flour
8 oz. pkg. cream cheese
1/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/3 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
4 c. peeled apple slices
1/2 c. sliced almonds

Cream first three ingredients. Blend in flour. Spread dough onto bottom and sides of 9 inch spring form pan. Combine softened cream cheese with 1/4 cup sugar; mix well. Add egg and vanilla and mix and pour into pastry lined pan. Spoon apple mixture over cream cheese layer, sprinkle with nuts.

Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 400 degrees, continue baking for 25 minutes. Cool, remove rim from pan. Makes 8-10 servings.
