GRANNY'S CORNBREAD | |
1 c. white stone ground cornmeal 2 tbsp. sugar 2 c. boiling water 1 egg 1 tbsp. salt (less is desired) 1 c. milk 1/4 c. oil 1 tbsp. self-rising flour Add 1 cup hot water to cornmeal and stir; add egg, sugar, flour, salt and milk. Add enough hot water again to make a mixture about like cake batter. Heat oil in a 6"x9" baking pan in 450 degree oven; when HOT, pour in cornbread mixture. Bake about 45 minutes or until firm and browned. Serve warm. |
