SHAKER LEMON BREAD 
1/3 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. milk
Grate of lemon

GLAZE:

1/3 c. granulated sugar
Juice of 1 lemon

Beat shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each. Sift dry ingredients and add alternately with milk to sugar mixture beating well after each addition. Add lemon rind and bake in a greased large loaf pan at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Mix glaze and pour over bread immediately after removing from oven.
